This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher/ELA to join our team, focusing on students in grades 9-12. This role involves delivering specially designed instruction in both self-contained classrooms, driving students toward Regents exam success, and as a co-teaching team member, providing high-quality, Regents-based instruction. Essential duties include comprehensive case management—including overseeing progress monitoring and IEP development—and facilitating transition planning. The successful candidate will also be expected to plan and collaborate effectively with district staff and outside partners, along with other responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
Delivering specially designed instruction to students, grades 9-12 in the self-contained classroom, leading to a Regents.
Shared responsibilities as a co-teaching team to deliver high quality, Regents-based instruction to students grades 9-12.
Providing academic support through AIS, Resource Room, and other settings.
Case management in overseeing progress monitoring and IEP development of special education students grades 9-12.
Providing transition planning support
Planning and collaborating with district staff and out of district partners
Other responsibilities deemed necessary by the building or district administration
Preference given to candidates with:
Expertise in Diagnostic Reading and Writing Assessment
Mastery of Explicit and Systematic Instruction:
Strong Content-Specific Pedagogical Knowledge
Technological Fluency in Assistive Technology
Required Certification: 7-12 Special Education and Secondary ELA
