We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Art Teacher to join our Fine Arts Department. The ideal candidate is a practicing artist and dedicated educator who can bridge the gap between classical techniques and contemporary digital media. You will be responsible for fostering a studio environment where students feel safe to take creative risks and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Creative Versatility: Ability to pivot between drawing, painting, ceramics, and digital design.
Empathy and Patience: A deep understanding of the social-emotional development of high school students.
Organizational Mastery: The skill to manage a "creative mess" while keeping inventory, budgets, and safety protocols in check.
Cultural Competence: A commitment to teaching art history and techniques from a diverse, global perspective.
Adaptability: The wit to turn a "failed" project into a valuable learning moment.
Preference given to candidates who:
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) or similar digital art tools.
Portfolio: A professional portfolio demonstrating personal artistic skill and/or examples of student work.
Curriculum Design: Proven ability to develop lesson plans that align with [State/National] Core Arts Standards.
Experience with fine arts pathways or the IAAP
Required Certification: NYS Certificate in Visual Arts (Pre-K-12)
