We are looking for a passionate and structured Long-Term Substitute Middle School ELA Teacher to guide our 8th grade students in reading, writing, and communication skills. This educator will step in to maintain academic momentum and build strong literacy skills in an encouraging middle school setting.
Plan and deliver instruction in reading comprehension, analytical writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis.
Guide students through individual and group reading of novels, short stories, poetry, and informational texts.
Facilitate the writing process (drafting, peer review, revising) across expository, persuasive, and narrative genres.
Create a welcoming classroom climate that values diverse perspectives and active student participation.
Evaluate student work, maintain accurate grade records, and communicate effectively with families and staff.
Implement accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs or 504 plans in collaboration with special education staff.
Successful candidates must possess New York State Certification in English Language Arts with Certification in English 7-12, English 5 - 9, English 7-12 & 5-6 Ext
