Responsibilities/Experience:

  • Experience, knowledge and background related to NYS learning
    Standards

  • Ability to meet students' social-emotional and academic needs in
    grades K-5

  •  Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Desire to work collaboratively as part of a team

  • Knowledge of child development and skills to coordinate instruction with the primary and grade level teachers

  • Awareness of and willingness to collaborate with grade level teams to assist in planning and providing instruction, interventions and research based-support of students

  • Experience with systematic phonics programs preferred but not required

Some examples of responsibilities  include:

  • Teaching remedial lessons to students 

  • Reinforcing lessons delivered by teacher 

  • Maintaining classroom routines

Long Term Substitute Social Worker

Anticipated Ending Date:  November 13, 2026

First 20 days — $150/day, thereafter $175/day retroactive back to the first day. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

Counsels students, parents, and guardians for the purpose of enhancing student success, academically, socially, and emotionally, in school.

Participates in building level PBIS teams

Develops a variety of special programs and classes (e.g. group and teamwork, leadership, bullying, coping with divorce or death, social skills).

Monitors students' progress for the purpose of identifying issues and taking appropriate action for increasing student success.

Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g. lesson plans, quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, audits, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.

Presents information for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.

Develop and maintain positive, collegial working relationships with families

Provide crisis intervention support when appropriate

Use research-based intervention strategies to facilitate change

Provide linkage to social services/concrete goods/concrete services as needed

 

Hours: 8:05am-3:30pm
