The NY HELPS (Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Program Statewide) is a New York State program that allows civil service agencies to hire qualified permanent employees quickly and without requiring them to take a competitive civil service exam. It was created to help agencies fill critical vacancies by streamlining the appointment process, though candidates must still meet all other minimum qualifications for the job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum:

• Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the NYS Learning Standards in Music.

• Teach a balanced music curriculum encompassing artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural and historical context to deepen understanding

• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
   

  Student and Classroom Culture:

• Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment with high expectations for student behavior and academic growth.

• Employ positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to foster a positive learning environment.

• Team Collaboration & Parent Engagement:

• Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education teachers, and ENL teachers to support all learners (including IEP, 504, and ELL students).

• Maintain regular, proactive communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.

General Responsibilities

Provide supervision of students in the absence of the teacher; manage records, materials and equipment under the supervision of the teacher; attend to the physical needs of the students.

Essential Tasks

• Assist classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional and behavioral objectives.
• Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups as assigned by teacher.
• Assist with behavior modification as assigned by teacher.
• Lift, move, and operate adaptive equipment.
• Assist students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to, lavatory, clothing, hygiene, diapering, toileting, and wash-up routines.
• Escort students as assigned by teacher or administrator.
• Assist students with mobility needs such as, lifting and positioning students, lifting in and out of wheelchairs; loading and unloading on the bus; transporting students in and around the school and on field trips.
• Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
• Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teacher, therapist or pathologist.
• Report student concerns directly and expeditiously to teacher and assist with student resolution.
• Assist with breakfast, lunch, snack, including cleanup.
• Maintain various records and files.
• Perform related work as required.

General Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the District's school health service program in accordance with district and state policies and regulations.

• Provide nursing care and coordinate physical screening to students
• Implement first aid measures for students as needed.
• Implement and record required screening programs; notify parents when further medical evaluation is indicated.
• Follow procedures for suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.
• Perform related work as required.

Sub LPN Pay Rate: $17.20

Sub RN Pay Rate $21.00

REPORTS TO:              Building Principal/Assistant Principal                         

DESCRIPTION:             Assists in the supervision of recreation and lunch periods and playground and study halls. Maintains order in halls, gymnasiums, locker rooms, swimming pools and school buses.

RATE OF PAY:            $16.00

POSITION:               Laborer - mostly cleaning duties

RATE OF PAY:                          $16.30

REPORTS TO:  Food Service Manager

FOOD SERVICE HELPER:  Assists in the preparation and serving of food in a school cafeteria, in the cleaning of dishes and kitchen equipment, and related work as required. 

Ability to follow written and oral directions; physical strength and stamina; good physical condition; dependability; and effective interpersonal skills. Some experience in food service preferred and the ability to read and write in English.

RATE OF PAY:   $16.10

Substitute Rates are as followed:

$140 per day - NYS Certified Teachers

$125 per day - Non certified substitutes- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or be actively enrolled in a Teacher Preparation Program.
